The best item to use for this method is a French Press. Mason Jars, bowls, etc… also work well, but you will need a nut milk bag or cheese cloth in addition if you use those for Cold Brew.
2.
Weigh
Weigh out 100 grams of your coffee beans. We recommend investing in one of these scales for this, but if you don’t have one, it should be about 1/3 cup of coffee beans.
3.
Grind
Grind your coffee to something that’s even more coarse than sea salt. This will probably be the coarsest setting on your grinder. place the ground coffee into the French press. tare the scale.
4.
Brew
Add 600 grams of room temperature water to your French Press and give it a good stir. Cover with your lid, but don’t push the plunger down. Give the grounds at least 8 hours to steep- but preferably 12. You could go longer but taste as you go so you don’t over extract. When finished, press the plunger down and decant into another container so you don’t over extract.
5.
Pour
When you decant your cold brew to another container- only pour out 90% of the liquid, as the bottom 10% will have a lot of fine grounds. The cold brew can be further refined by running it through a cheese cloth or nut milk bag.
