Read through our instructions below to learn how to brew with your French Press!
Produces one 12oz cup
1.
Prep
Fill your kettle with water and bring to temperature. Bringing the water to just before the boil is ideal. Next, place the filter in the French Press and then discard the water – this preheats it to prevent temperature shock.
2.
Weigh
Weigh out 28 grams of your coffee beans. We recommend investing in one of these scales for this, but if you don’t have one, it should be about 1/3 cup of coffee beans.
3.
Grind
Grind your coffee to something that’s coarse like sea salt. This will probably be the coarsest setting on your grinder. Place the ground coffee into the French press. tare the scale.
4.
Brew
Start your timer and pour 425 grams of water into your French Press. Put your lid on and push down so that your plunger has your beans slightly submerged below the water line.
5.
Pour
At the 3:30 mark, slowly plunge and pour your coffee into a cup or separate decanter.
Note: You don’t want the coffee to sit in the French Press as the grounds will over extract and produce a bitterness.
